From Google News Search: "Locators" Does anyone know if the group Emergency Medical Locators is still around? Q. I haven't heard about them in a long time. The front page of their website is still up, however almost none of the links work, especially the registration page. There's an adoptee I know who is quite desperately ill and doesn't have a lot of time or energy to be online. If anyone knows if this group is still around in another form, that would be a huge help. Thanks! Asked by Theresa - Fri May 15 09:04:25 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Dear Theresa, I am so sorry to hear about your acquaintance's situation. It is cruel and simply deplorable that someone should be made to suffer so. No one should die because they are adopted. It is discriminatory and sadly sometimes deadly when adoptees are denied access to lifesaving information. This is why I firmly believe in open records. Here's what I could find: EMLA Fax: 775-845-4334 Staff members are online 24/7 To handle emergency searches. Email: afseml@aol.com or bobcrowter@hotmail.com (I do not know if they are still active.) Q. I had some old friends from High School that I was going to look up but wanted to know if anyone had used any of these sights or could recommend one first. You know before I blew my money on a worthless site. Asked by finnius71 - Tue Apr 1 15:32:17 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. I have never tried one of the online services. Because of my job I receive advertising from services that claim they can find anyone, and state that there is no fee if they fail. The prices are about $20 to $30 per search. I am told that the Internet search services have become so good that they really can find anyone that has not changed identities and is not hiding. If I were looking for old friends, I would find an Internet service that promises that there will be no fee if the person is not found, then I would sign up using a credit card from my bank, which I know from experience is very good about reversing charges when a scammer refuses to do the refund credit when they should. If you have confidence in your bank, go for it. Answered by Mayan - Tue Apr 1 15:58:20 2008 Is it illegal for your employer (private commercial company) to insert GPS locators in your equipment?
Q. like cell phones or laptops - with or without your knowledge? Asked by the rock - Wed Dec 6 12:12:06 2006 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments A. Sure they can, if they purchased the equipment and gave it to you for official company business. That's one way companies can find cell phones and laptops that have been lost or stolen, and that's how they justify it legally -- their right to protect their assets and corporate secrets/practices overrides an employee's right to privacy (which is a legal fiction anyway).
