We aim to include not only the definition of a word, but also enough information to really understand it. Thus etymologies, pronunciations, sample quotations, synonyms, antonyms and translations are included. A business opportunity (or bizopp) involves the sale or lease of any product, service, equipment, etc. that will enable the purchaser-licensee to begin a business. The licensor or seller of a business opportunity usually declares that it will secure or assist the buyer in finding a suitable location or provide the product to the purchaser-licensee. This is different from the sale of an independent business, in which there is no continued relationship required by the seller.

Concept

The use of a toll-free telephone number makes it difficult for customers to immediately identify the company's geographical location. Moreover, a company can own many 1-800 numbers, using a different one for each area in which it advertises. In the event of consumer complaints, this thwarts investigators from recognizing the connection between biz-ops listings in various newspapers.

A common type of business opportunity involves a company that sells bulk vending machines and promises to secure suitable locations for the machines. The purchaser is counting on the company to find locations where sales will be high enough to enable him to recoup his expenses and make a profit. Because of the many cases of fraudulent biz-ops in which companies have not followed through on their promises, or in which profits were much less than what the company led the investor to believe, governments closely regulate these operations.

Multi-level marketing is often presented as a business opportunity, such as the phrase, "Let me tell you about an incredible ground-level business opportunity."

In the United States, the Federal Trade Commission receives complaints and helps coordinate enforcement action against fraudulent business opportunities.

Best areas to advertise a home based business opportunity?
Q. I recently got involved in a home based business opportunity in the health and beauty industry. I am finding the internet is saturated with business ops and it is difficult to build a downline. I am considering doing offline advertising. My question is, what regions, states, areas, etc... seem to be the most responsive to these types of opportunities if one is choosing to do print ads?

A. Hi, I have been on line working from home since 2004. I have learned that if you write ads locally first, people feel more comfortable with your site. Then I suggest you also go to some free ad sites, I found some that work great and you can get your own, offer free advertising to other businesses and this will build you a down line and contacts. Plus write blog gs about experiences you have had, your interests and stories that make people feel the trust they need when working with you. This is my Adpost and you can get one free also and it works great, it even puts your ads in search engines to give you the traffic you need. If you need anything just ask my website is set up to help others with Home Business Ideas and I hope this helps… [cont.]

Looking for a home business opportunity?
Q. Looking for a home business opportunity, probably some sort of an affiliate thing but if you have a better idea feel free to lemme know. I am not looking to do the sales thing as I am not much of a talker, but have lots of free time so something I could work at, maybe with my hands? Minor assembling or something maybe. I am looking for something with little to no overhead and with some room for growth... If you have any ideas please let me know. Thank you.

A. The vast majority of work at home offers are fake, one expert estimates only 1 in 55 is real. Scams that have been around longer than the internet, like envelope stuffing jobs are still around. Refusing to pay for job membership, startup package or ready made web sites will eliminate a lot of the scammers. More people make it with their own businesses, built with a lot of sweat and effort, I suggest to get a feel for some of these activities you search the web for affiliate marketing, freelance professional or blogging income. Spend some time on the forums discussing these activities. If it sounds too good to be true...it's only good for the other guy.

Do you think the middle east will be a big opportunity for business?
Q. the middle east has many countries with an array of cultures.. if i took up Arabic as a language is there a business opportunity there
Asked by Biddness - Sat Nov 3 22:13:02 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Study Arabic if you want however it depends where in the Middle East you plan to do business, the type of business and the market. What you will find is that many in the Middle East have advanced college degrees and if not, at least have been to university. Plus, English isn't a foreign language to them and they have been doing business globally for centuries. Like any other business venture, find something the market wants to buy and give it to them.
